Lopdell House

Tileworks was delighted to partner with NZ Strong in the redevelopment of the historic Lopdell House building in Auckland’s bushy township of Titirangi. Our work comprised two distinct tasks – the supply and installation of the beautiful traditional Winckelmans tessellated tiles in the entry foyer area, and supply and installation of the roof deck using the latest technologies of massive 60 x 60 x 2cm thick porcelain tiles from Italian producer Del Conca set on adjustable plastic pedestals from Elmich in Singapore. This system facilitates complete access to the waterproof membrane below for repairs and maintenance, allows service cables or pipework for irrigation or other installations to be run during construction or at future times, with no damage to the paving surface. The Elmich pedestal system remains one of the only systems that offers Building Code compliant tile joint and perimeter spacers with expansion provision. The view from this deck is an absolute must see!
